Director Todd Philips has shared two official images of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn, following a recent release of set photos which revealed a very clownish look for Gaga.
That’s a wrap! Filming for Joker: Folie à Deux has officially concluded, and with the milestone comes two official photos from director Todd Philips. Peruse the exciting new pics on Instagram now:
Accompanying the new images, Philips writes, "That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together."
Last week, sly set photos revealed the makeup and costuming for Lady Gaga’s upcoming rumored portrayal of Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel. The striking red and diamond-patterned outfit Gaga dons as she walks through a protesting crowd was created by Oscar-nominated Arianne Phillips. The first glimpse of Gaga as the clownish character was shared in February as a ghoulishly romantic Valentine’s Day gift to fans.
Joker: Folie à Deux takes place in the DC Elseworlds franchise alongside Matt Reeves’ The Batman, not as part of the new official DCU timeline currently in development from James Gunn and Peter Safran. The gritty ’80s film centers on the romantic and musical relationship between Phoenix’s Joker and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn, and also features the talents of Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Jacob Lofland, Brendan Gleeson, Harry Lawtey, and Catherine Keener.
Returning for the mad sequel is director Phillips, who will again pen the script alongside Scott Silver. Visual effects on Joker were produced by Scanline VFX and Shade VFX for Production VFX Supervisor Edwin Rivera. Not sure yet who’s lined up for the new film.
Joker: Folie à Deux will be unleashed into theaters Oct. 4, 2024.
