Paperman director John Kahrs is hired to direct Paramount Animation’s Shedd from a script written by Tripper Clancy.
Paramount Pictures’ fledgling animation division has hired Oscar winner John Kahrs to direct Shedd, according to a report by Variety.
Tripper Clancy is writing the script, which is based on an original idea from Paramount’s Film Group president Adam Goodman, who oversees the animation division. Story details have not yet been revealed.
Kahrs received the Oscar last year for the Disney animated short Paperman.
Paramount began its internal animation production operation in 2012, as the studio prepared for the end of its distribution deal with DreamWorks Animation, which has since moved to Fox.
The division’s first title is a sequel to Nickelodeon’s 2004 feature, SpongeBob SquarePants, with a release set for February 3, 2015.
