John Henson To Host 33rd Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Actor, writer, comedian John Henson (WATCH THIS) will host the 33rd Annual Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Hollywood and Highland's Grand Ballroom. The non-televised award show honors excellence and achievement in animation and many program categories as well as all technical areas of daytime television. Red Carpet arrivals begin at 4:00 pm and the awards presentation is from 5:00-6:30 pm.

Confirmed presenters for this year's show include: Alex Trebek (JEOPARDY!), Tony Okungbowa (DJ from the Emmy-nominated THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW), best-selling author Greg Behrendt (HES JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU) who will be launching a new daytime talk show this fall and Kristan Cunningham (DESIGN ON A DIME). Also from the Emmy-nominated daytime dramas, Anthony Geary, Lindze Letherman and Scott Clifton (GENERAL HOSPITAL); Michael Graziadei and Jeanne Cooper (THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS); Matthew Ashford, Julie Pinson and Judi Evans (DAYS OF OUR LIVES); Dylan Fergus, Eric Martsolf and Cathy Jeneen Doe (PASSIONS) and Lesli Kay, John McCook and Susan Flannery (THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL). In addition, The Red Elvises will perform their unique blend of Russian-influenced rock and roll.

Voice-over artist Bob Bergen (the voice of Porky Pig in the Emmy-nominated series DUCK DODGERS, as well as a veteran of hundreds of commercials and animated projects) will serve as the announcer for the awards ceremony.

The Television Academy Foundation's Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to two undergraduate or graduate students pursuing Childrens Media Studies. Daytime Emmy nominee JD Roth (ENDURANCE: TEHACHAPI), will introduce this $10,000 scholarship along with Mrs. Fred Rogers who will present the awards. The scholarships are underwritten by the accounting firm of Ernst & Young and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Henson was the former host/writer/co-exec producer of the Emmy-winning Talk Soup one of E! Entertainment Televisions highest rated series. An actor/comedian, Henson started as a stand-up comic. He has hosted multiple television specials, including ABC's THE BEST COMMERCIALS YOU'VE NEVER SEEN and THE BEST TELEVISION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN. Hensons other television credits include THE VIEW and POLITICALLY INCORRECT (ABC), REMEMBER WENN (AMC Classics), STAND UP, STAND UP and TWO DRINK MINIMUM (Comedy Central), CAROLINES COMEDY HOUR (A&E) and hosting the Spike TV series, THE JOHN HENSON PROJECT. He also starred in his own ABC primetime special, THE TELEVISION SHOW WITH JOHN HENSON.

The Daytime Emmy telecast honoring individual performances and programs will be presented on April 28 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. This is the first time the Daytime Emmys will broadcast from Hollywood in its 33-year history.
