John Cena’s Mutha Truckin’ ‘Dallas and Robo’ Headed to SYFY’s TZGZ Animation Block

Premiering August 8, the 8-episode adult comedy about a foul-mouthed ex-stock car racer and her AI robot sidekick also stars Kat Dennings.

If wrestling legend / chisel-chested actor John Cena said it on his Twitter and Facebook accounts, then it must be true! SYFY and its late-night animation block, TZGZ, will be havin’ a mutha truckin’ good time with their acquisition of Dallas and Robo, an eight-episode half-hour adult animated comedy starring Cena and Kat Dennings! The show begins its first-ever cable run beginning Saturday, August 8 at midnight-ish ET/PT, TZGZ. Episodes will also be available on SYFY On Demand.

According to SYGY, Dallas and Robo is a “space-trucking comedy that following the mis-adventures of foul-mouthed ex-stock car racer Dallas (Dennings) and her ass-kickin' artificially intelligent good buddy, Robo (Cena). Together, they navigate their way around cannibal bikers, rival space truckers and vending machine burritos as they try to make a buck in the seedy world of interplanetary big rigging.”

The series was originally produced for the subscription-based YouTube Red; first season guest stars include Jane Lynch, Giancarlo Esposito, Taran Killam, Clancy Brown, Nat Faxon, Dana Snyder, Bree Williamson and Milana Vayntrub.

Joining the growing list of adult animated comedies with the words “foul-mouthed” in their loglines, Dallas and Robo is produced by ShadowMachine (Final Space, BoJack Horseman) and YouTube Originals. The show is executive produced by series creator Mike Roberts and showrunners Matt Mariska and Andy Sipes, alongside Cena. Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico from ShadowMachine also executive produce.

TZGZ is SYFY’s growing late-night adult animation block; in case you’re wondering, “TZGZ” comes after “SYFY”. The schedule notes it starts Saturdays at “midnight-ish because, just come hang whenever… we’re around.” Their current programming slate is as follows:

  • 4 Original Series
    • Devil May Care, Wild Life, Magical Girl Friendship Squad, and Hell Den (Season 2)
  • 11 Acquired Series
    • Alien’s Guide to Earth, Brogan: Master of Castles, Cyanide and Happiness, Dallas and Robo, Don’t Feed the Humans, Dr. Havoc’s Diary, Gary and his Demons, Hell Den (Season 1), Purgatony, Science!, and Magical Girl Friendship Squad: Origins (short-form version)
  • 5 Original Pilots
    • Chronicles of Frank, The Black Hole, The Pole, Plutonians (working title), and Psycho Psalms

On Friday, July 24 at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT, TZGZ will present four new original series – Devil May Care, Wild Life, Magical Girl Friendship Squad, and Hell Den -- during a Comic-Con@Home panel.
