It’s No Accidental Resurrection - Adult Swim Picks Up ‘Teenage Euthanasia’ Season 2

The network orders more episodes of the ‘morbidly’ funny animated series about death, family, and unexpectedly coming back to life; currently in production, the new season will hit in 2023.

Adult Swim has picked up a second season of Teenage Euthanasia, its critically acclaimed 2D animated coming-of-all-ages comedy series about death, family, and accidental resurrection. The half-hour series is co-created by The New York Times Editor’s Choice writer Alissa Nutting (Made for Love), and Emmy-nominated producer Alyson Levy (The Shivering Truth). Season 1 is now available on HBO Max.

Set in a mildly apocalyptic near-future inland Florida, Teenage Euthanasia centers around the Fantasy family and their inland Florida funeral home, Tender Endings. The cast of characters include recently undead Trophy Fantasy (voiced by Maria Bamford); her teenage daughter, Euthanasia "Annie" Fantasy (voiced by Jo Firestone); Annie's Oedipus-complex-stricken Uncle Pete (voiced by Tim Robinson); and Annie's "old country" immigrant grandmother Baba (voiced by Bebe Neuwirth).

When a bolt of lightning strikes Baba’s embalming fluid and mixes with a tear from Annie, Trophy is accidentally brought back to life with extraordinary zombie-esque superpowers. Shenanigans ensue as Trophy navigates the struggles of parenthood and tries, or hardly tries, to make up for lost time with her daughter.

Season 2 of Teenage Euthanasia is produced by PFFR and animated by Atomic Cartoons. Executive producers include Lisa M. Thomas, Vernon Chatman, Scott Adsit, and John Lee. The series is slated for release in 2023.
