IOMEDIA Forges 3D Relationship With Rockwell

In continuing to define a new collaborative design and production strategy with the Rockwell Group, IOMEDIA has produced a series of presentations combining 3D animation, interactive design and video production for the Starhill Shopping and Entertainment Center located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In order to leverage the best media for the presentation, the Rockwell group used IOMEDIA's PRESENT software to incorporate traditional hand-rendered images produced by the Rockwell Group with animation and video content produced concurrently by IOMEDIA. The PRESENT engine allowed Rockwell to move seamlessly between different media (stills, animation, video and interactive content), while maintaining a unified identity for the project, across all three presentations, made over a period of two months.

The Rockwell Group was responsible for creating three alternative concept schemes for extensive renovations to the existing complex, a refinement of the preferred scheme and a master-planning phase for incorporation of these concepts into the surrounding Bintang Walk area.

Under the direction of David Mexico, The Rockwell Group's design team developed and provided to IOMEDIA design underlays for the various vignettes and design concepts in hand sketch fashion. IOMEDIA worked these underlays into sketch-like animations befitting of this preliminary level of design. Music and ambient sound was employed to round out the experience for the presentations.

"Although collaborating on design schemes and making last minute adjustments is always a challenge, our work experience with IOMEDIA is forging new ground," said David Mexico, Rockwell Group principal. "With each project, the IOMEDIA crew consistently produces great work at a challenging pace. For Kuala Lumpur, with the use of the PRESENT software, we were able to put together impressive interactive presentations. In a nutshell, through what IOMEDIA does best, we were able to show what we do best."
