IMAX Names Ann Sommerlath VP, Corporate Communications

IMAX Corporation (Nasdaq:IMAX) (TSX:IMX) today announced that Ann Sommerlath has joined the Company as Vice President, Corporate Communications.

NEW YORK, Jan. 13, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- IMAX Corporation (Nasdaq:IMAX) (TSX:IMX) today announced that Ann Sommerlath has joined the Company as Vice President, Corporate Communications. Reporting directly to the Company's Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Sommerlath will lead IMAX's media initiatives and drive overall communications strategy.

Ms. Sommerlath has nearly 20 years of experience, which includes leadership positions in corporate and financial communications, as well as financial journalism.

Prior to joining IMAX, Ms. Sommerlath was a Senior Vice President at Edelman Public Relations, where she served as senior media strategist and developed strategic communications programs for a range of clients. Previously, she served as Senior Vice President in the corporate and business-to-business communications group at Fleishman-Hillard in New York and was a Managing Director at RF|Binder Partners Inc., focused primarily on investor relations. Additionally, she was the director of PR/communications at LSG Sky Chefs, the Frankfurt-based catering subsidiary of German airline, Lufthansa AG.

Ms. Sommerlath was also a financial journalist for 10 years at Dow Jones Newswires, BridgeNews and the Associated Press. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas, where she earned a bachelor's degree from the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
