ILM and DreamWorks Coming to FMX 2011

16th Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Interactive MediaMay 3-6, 2011. Stuttgart, Germany. FMX is excited to announce contributions from ILM and participation from DreamWorks at this year's conference.

A Peep into the world of ILM: "Industrial Light & Magic: Creating The Impossible"Award winning Visual Effects studio Industry Light & Magic, founded by George Lucas in 1975, will feature in a very special screening at this year's FMX. Director Leslie Iwerks and ILM veteran's Tim Alexander, Ben Snow and Hal Hickel will present the documentary, "Industrial Light & Magic: Creating The Impossible". For the past 35 years ILM has been responsible for some of the most memorable effects in film history, including the Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Iron Man, Harry Potter and Transformers Trilogies, Avatar, Star Trek, and recently their first animated feature, Rango.

Directed by Leslie Iwerks of the Pixar documentary, "The Pixar Story". Industry Light & Magic: Creating the Impossible takes audiences behind the scenes with in dept interviews with some of the companies' top talent, including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, J.J. Abrams and Jon Favreau, actors Samuel L. Jackson and Robin Williams, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and John Lasseter, the chief creative officer at Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.

Iwerks' documentary showcases never before seen footage highlighting many of their pioneering milestones. From creating the first ever computer generated character in a feature film to the latest advancements in visual effects for film franchises such as Transformers and Iron Man.

DreamWorks ParticipationFMX is pleased to announce DreamWorks Animation's participation in this year's conference. Philippe Denis and Philippe Gluckman will present in-depth sessions about the feature animation pipelines in both California and India.

Production is altering how the industry works, allowing for continuous work-flow, distributed workplaces and co-financing. DreamWorks Animation is one of a few prominent studios who have already established a presence in India. Building on the large talent pool that already exists in India, DreamWorks Animation in association with Technicolor have set up the DreamWorks Dedicated Unit at Technicolor India. The unit, which has developed a unique work-flow process, will work exclusively on projects and features from DreamWorks Animation.

The DreamWorks Animation recruitment team will be on the look out for exciting talent at FMX this year for the DreamWorks Dedicated Unit at Technicolor India in Bangalore as well as both the California studio locations.

Focus on France, Spain, New York, Chinese AnimationEach year FMX recognises the unique successes and achievements that have taken place in particular regions; this year the Focus will be on France, Spain, New York and Chinese Animation.

Animation Media Cluster Region StuttgartStuttgart is now one of the most prominent regions in Germany for animation and visual effects production. MFG Baden-Wuerttemberg will present a new consortium of studios and special effects houses, the Animation Media Cluster Region Stuttgart.

Animated Capital of EuropeStuttgart will play host to three incredible events in May, becoming the animated capital of Europe! FMX, the 16th Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Interactive Media will take place May 3-6, attracting industry professionals. The Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film takes place May 3-8, showcasing the latest international animated films and the Animation Production Day - a business platform for the industry - takes place May 3-4.

FMX is an event by Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, organized by the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction, hosting the Animation Production Day 2011 (APD), a joint venture with the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart (ITFS). It is an event in cooperation with VES Visual Effects Society, AIAS Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, ACM Siggraph and Stuttgart Media University. FMX is funded by the Ministry of State and the Ministry of Economics Baden-Wuerttemberg, the MFG Film Funding and the FFA German Federal Film Board.
