How to Train Your Dragon 2 will fly into theaters in China next month, according to a report by Variety, giving the animated sequel a crack at the world’s fastest growing movie market.

Chinese authorities have reportedly approved the DreamWorks Animation production for release on August 14.

China has demonstrated its box office muscle of late, propelling Transformers: Age of Extinction to record-setting heights. The giant robot adventure has pulled in s $262.6 million since hitting theaters last month, a new high-water mark that surpasses the film’s domestic gross. Overall, China’s box office has grown 22 percent through the first half of the year to $2.16 billion in ticket receipts.

DreamWorks Animation has made great efforts to enhance its relationships in China. The company is working on a $2.4 billion Shanghai entertainment complex and has also created Oriental DreamWorks, a joint venture with Chinese partners. Kung Fu Panda 3 will be released through that production entity.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 has debuted in most major territories and has earned more than $350 million worldwide.
