Hopster Jumps into the U.S.

U.K.’s favorite kids app lands one million users; is now available in the U.S. with a lineup of hit local shows including ‘Reading Rainbow’ with LeVar Burton and DHX Media’s ‘Monster Math Squad’ and ‘Franny’s Feet.’

LONDON -- Hopster, the app that helps kids learn through the shows and games they love, today confirmed that it is launching in the U.S. this August with a brand new look and an exciting lineup of U.S. kids shows.

Since launching in the U.K. in 2013, Hopster has extended its service to over 100 countries and ranked as number one grossing app for kids in 24 countries. Used by over 1 million families worldwide on mobile, tablet and TV, Hopster is now expanding into the world’s biggest app market.

The Kidsafe and COPPA-certified app has recently undergone a major refresh to allow for easier navigation and a more immersive user experience. Hopster has expanded its magical world to make it even more dynamic and creative and with 8 new adventure locations for the kids to explore. Based on extensive user feedback, the Hopster app now features a scrollable, 360-degree world to make navigation easier on every screen and help kids find their favorite shows and games quicker.

Hopster is launching in the U.S. with a catalogue of newly-acquired children’s shows and music including segments introducing viewers to NAACP and Emmy Award-winning Reading Rainbow with LeVar Burton; as well as DHX Media’s Monster Math Squad and Franny’s Feet. Hopster’s new music area, the groovy Music flower, will house kids’ favorites Super Simple Songs and Chris Ballew’s music video series, Caspar Babypants. Complementing Hopster’s selection of children’s shows, tiny adventurers will find a suite of educational games created around the proprietary Hopster curriculum and built according to the U.S. NAEYC guidelines.

For only $4.99 per month, families can enjoy Hopster across all their devices, with full access to Hopster’s huge library of content to stream and download for use offline.

Hopster, twice named “Best of” the Apple App Store, will initially launch exclusively on Apple’s iOS and tvOS platforms in the U.S. Hopster’s app makes full use of many of the leading features offered by iOS, including full support for Apple’s high resolution retina displays, allowing users to search for their favorite content using Siri voice controls.

“Launching in the U.S. is a massive step for us in our mission to build a global platform that helps kids learn through the content they love,” said Hopster founder and CEO Nick Walters. “Rather than rush in we’ve taken the time to learn from our first phase of international expansion. Now, with over one million installs to date, we’ve made sure that Hopster’s really ready for the U.S. -- fully customized and packed with shows and games that U.S. families will really love.”

“Our mission is to inspire generations of children to love reading and we are excited to be able to introduce kids to the magic of LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow through the fantastic Hopster service,” said Linda Benjamin, President, Global Strategy & Business at LeVar Burton’s RRKIDZ.

Super Simple Learning president Devon Thagard agrees: “Just like Hopster, we think that learning should be made easy and fun, that’s why we are glad to feature some of our best kids’ songs and nursery rhymes on the platform.”
