LONDON -- Hoho Rights, the commercial arm of kids production company Hoho Entertainment, has picked up Welsh broadcaster S4C’s animation back catalog.

The titles include popular children’s favorites such as Hana’s Helpline, the felted stop-motion series about a duck who runs a telephone helpline for animals with problems; the popular Sali Mali; the non-dialogue Claymation sitcom Gogs; and many more.

The slate also includes a selection of high-quality animated classics, including Emmy Award-winning Shakespeare -- The Animated Tales, 12 x 30’ adaptations of the bard’s key plays; Emmy Award-winning Animated Tales of the World, which is still the biggest kids’ co-production to date, involving 39 stories from 39 countries; Animated Epics, featuring classic sagas such as Beowulf and The Canterbury Tales and whose stellar voice cast includes Bill Nighy, Derek Jacobi, Timothy West, Sean Bean, Billie Whitelaw, Tim McInnerny and Imelda Staunton; and Animated World Faiths, 10 x 15’ programs telling the stories of seven of the world’s great faiths and their founders and leaders.

Helen Howells, Joint Managing Director, Hoho, said: “This is something of a personal passion for me. I worked at S4C and I’m therefore very familiar with many of these title and they are as fresh and relevant now as they ever were.  Classics are evergreen. And the rise of VOD and other on-demand services presents a great opportunity to breathe new life into these much-loved tales and adaptations.”

Hoho Rights will be talking to broadcasters about the S4C catalogue at MIPCOM at stand number P-1, A92.
