HKAFS Celebrates 60 Years of Hong Kong Animation

The Hong Kong Animator Filmmaker Society will celebrate 60 years of Hong Kong Animation with a full schedule of exhibits and events at the 2012 edition of the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART).

The Hong Kong Animator Filmmaker Society will celebrate 60 years of Hong Kong Animation with a full schedule of exhibits and events at the 2012 edition of the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART).

The 60 Years of Hong Kong Animation

This exhibit will showcase more than 90 pieces of original artwork from various eras of Hong Kong animation production. Sketches and storyboards from major films such as The Animated Idiom, Old Master Q and Atom will also be on display, along with the trophy from the Annecy Award presented to My Life as McDull. March 19-20, 2012

Best of the Best from HKAFS – Tribute to John Sinarwi

A tribute to John Sinarwi, one of the key people in the history of Hong Kong animation, will be held on March 19, from 2:00-3:30pm. Sinarwi is the founder of the legendary animation production house Quantum Studio, which produced many significant animated commercials during the 1980s.

Animation Production: The China Way

The Chinese government has put in much effort to support the animation industry. Guest speakers Frankie Chung, Keeto Lam and Tao Yuen will talk about their animation experiences while working in China. The seminar will be held on March 20, 2012, from 2:00-4:00pm.

Global Animation: The Next Step?

Guest speakers Eddy Wong (Menfond Electronic Art), Tony Willis (Blipvfx Productions) and Tony S. Izumi (Mad House-Beijing) will share their experiences in animation and talk about the new possibilities afforded by global animation production. The conference takes place March 21, 2012, from 10:00am – Noon.
