Henson’s ‘Dinosaur Train’ Travels to Boomerang Latin America

Produced by The Jim Henson Company and co-produced with Singapore-based Sparky Animation, ‘Dinosaur Train’ has been licensed in over 200 territories across the globe.

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- The Jim Henson Company’s critically acclaimed Emmy-nominated animated children’s series Dinosaur Train continues to gain momentum across Latin America with the company signing a new licensing agreement with Boomerang Latin America, affording the series the broadest distribution to children across the region.

“First introduced to audiences in Latin America five years ago, Dinosaur Train has demonstrated tremendous appeal to young viewers with its winning combination of dinosaurs and trains presented through fun adventures with engaging characters,” said Richard Goldsmith, Executive Vice President of Global Distribution, The Jim Henson Company in making the announcement. “Dinosaur Train also delivers valuable age-appropriate content, making it a favorite among parents and caregivers as well,” explained Goldsmith. “This enthusiastic response has led to the acquisition of the series by our new media partner in the region -- Boomerang Latin America -- a platform that enables us to bring the Dinosaur Train experience to an even greater number of viewers.”

Boomerang Latin America will launch Dinosaur Train on Monday August 10, 2015.

The Jim Henson Company has licensed Dinosaur Train in over 200 territories across the globe with media partners such as France TV, Nickelodeon (UK), Disney Channel (Germany), NRK (Norway), YLE (Finland), Canal+ (Poland), Channel 1 (Russia), TG4 (Ireland), Canal Panda (Portugal), SRTVE (Spain), SVT (Sweden), Netflix (Canada, UK, Germany, Spanish-speaking Latin America), Videotron (French-speaking Canada) and TVO and TFO (Canada), Emirates Cable TV & Multimedia LLC (United Arab Emirates), Knowledge Network Corp. (Canada) and Multithematiques (France).

Dinosaur Train, created by Craig Bartlett (Hey Arnold!), embraces and celebrates the fascination that preschoolers have with both dinosaurs and trains while encouraging basic scientific thinking and skills. In Dinosaur Train, viewers join Buddy and his adoptive family of Pteranodons on whimsical adventures through prehistoric jungles, swamps, volcanoes and oceans as they unearth basic concepts in natural science, natural history and paleontology. The Dinosaur Train is a colorful locomotive, customized to accommodate all kinds of dinosaurs and has the ability to visit the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous worlds. The train’s conductor, a knowledgeable Troodon, provides passengers with fascinating facts along the way.

The four-time Emmy-nominated and Parents’ Choice Silver Honor animated series is currently in production of a fourth season, which will air in the US on PBS KIDS. Dinosaur Train season four will consist of 10 CG-animated episodes that focus on the themes of biodiversity and social diversity, and how both are necessary for a balanced life on Earth.  In the US, Dinosaur Train consistently ranks in the top five children’s programs among kids ages two to five-years-old.

Dinosaur Train is produced by The Jim Henson Company and co-produced with Singapore animation company Sparky Animation with original support from the Singapore Media Development Authority. The series is executive produced by Lisa Henson and Halle Stanford for The Jim Henson Company. Craig Bartlett also serves as executive producer. The Jim Henson Company oversees all ancillary exploitation of the property, including distribution, licensing and merchandising in all markets, excluding Asia Pacific, which is handled by Sparky Animation.
