HBO Max Order 2 Season Renewal of JG Quintel’s ‘Close Enough’

Watch the new Season 2 trailer for the Emmy Award-winning ‘Regular Show’ creator’s animated comedy; new season starts streaming February 25.

HBO Max has picked up Seasons 2 and 3 of Emmy Award-winning Regular Show creator JG Quintel’s adult-animated comedy, Close Enough. Season 2 premieres February 25; Season 1 debuted on the streamer last July 9.

The show, produced by Cartoon Network Studios, features a married couple, their five-year-old daughter, and their divorced best friends all living together on the east-side of Los Angeles. Season 2 sees Josh, Emily, and the gang continuing to navigate adulthood while contending with haunted couches, bulbous horses, time-travelling whiskeys, and a literal houseguest from hell -- all in their very own apartment. The cast includes JG Quintel (Josh), Gabrielle Walsh (Emily), Jason Mantzoukas (Alex), Kimiko Glenn (Bridgette), Jessica DiCicco (Candice), Danielle Brooks (Pearle), and James Adomian (Randy). Season 2 guest stars include Rachel Bloom, Heidi Gardner, Keith David, Cheri Oteri, Kevin Michael Richardson, Kate Micucci, David Koechner, Vanessa Marshall, Wendie Malick, Kate Berlant, and Michaela Watkins.

The news comes on the heels of the streamer’s order of three new adult animated comedy series: a two-season order for a reimagined Clone High, the Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Bill Lawrence show that ran on Teletoon and MTV in 2002-2003; a 10-episode order for the Scooby-Doo spinoff, Velma, with Mindy Kaling starring and executive producing; and Fired on Mars, an existential workplace comedy starring and executive produced by SNL’s Pete Davidson.
