Hasbro Strikes New European Deals

Hasbro Studios, the Los Angeles-based production and distribution division of Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), today announced multiple sales of its popular kids’ program brands in key territories throughout Europe.

LOS ANGELES, CA, Sept. 29, 2011 -- Hasbro Studios, the Los Angeles-based production and distribution division of Hasbro, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAS), today announced multiple sales of its popular kids’ program brands in key territories throughout Europe.

France’s Lagardere, which operates Channel 7’s TiJi, the leading provider of programming for kids under the age of 7, will offer My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (26 X 22). It has also acquired Transformers Prime (26 X 22), the latter of which will be broadcast on its Canal J and Gulli services.

In Germany, Hasbro Studios’ has sold The Adventures of Chuck and Friends (52 X 11) to broadcaster Super RTL. Additionally, Nickelodeon will offer My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Transformers Prime throughout Germany.

Similarly, Nickelodeon in the Netherlands has acquired My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Transformers Prime and Pound Puppies. VTM Belgium has secured My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Pound Puppies for its children’s channel, Kazoom. GI Joe Renegades and Transformers Prime will appear on newly launched tween boys’ channel, 2B.

Finn Arnesen, Hasbro Studios’ senior VP of international distribution and development, said,  “As providers of many of the most recognizable children’s and family characters in the world, these sales highlight the strength of Hasbro’s classic brands when they are re-imagined, reinvented and reignited for new generations.”

Hasbro Studios’ latest European deals follow the success of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, in the U.K., where it has been one of The Cartoon Network’s top-five shows since launching there in July, and in Spain, where Boing successfully aired the three-part miniseries Transformers Prime in July to outstanding ratings.
