Harrison Ford Joining MCU as Secretary Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross

No stranger to franchises, the ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘Star Wars’ star will pick up the Ross mantle in both ‘Captain America: New World Order’ and ‘Thunderbolts’ following William Hurt’s passing earlier this year.

Harrison Ford is back in the franchise game! The iconic Indiana Jones and Star Wars star will join the MCU as Secretary Thaddeus ”Thunderbolt” Ross, following William Hurt’s passing earlier this year. Ross first joined the MCU in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and was portrayed by Hurt until 2021’s Black Widow, shortly before his death.

Ford will debut as Ross in Captain America: New World Order starring Anthony Mackie, which will pick up after the events of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Ford will also star in Thunderbolts, the film premiering directly after New World Order, which follows a team of anti-heroes led by Ross. While no stranger to the franchise game, this will be Ford’s first appearance in the MCU.

The prolific actor will also return in James Mangold’s Indiana Jones 5 as the eponymous whip-cracking archaeologist. He will be joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas.
