Guess Named Director of Commercials & Music Videos at Encore Hollywood

Griffin Guess has been promoted from sales exec to the newly created post of Director of Commercials and Music Videos at Encore Hollywood, where will head sales for Encores recently formed short-form post-production team.

Griffin has done a great job in helping to re-establish Encore Hollywood as a leader in short form post, said Bill Romeo, Ascent Media Creative Services svp of sales and marketing. He has a firm understanding of the dynamics of that market and has found creative ways to help commercial and music video clients take better advantage of the breadth of services that we offer.

Formed last fall, Encore Hollywoods short form post-production group has been making great strides in its effort to return comprehensive, high quality post-production services to the Hollywood market. The group offers dailies transfers, color correction, visual effects production, computer animation, compositing and finishing. It recently completed post work on commercials for Pacific Life, Twix, Kelloggs, Jack-in-the-Box and McDonalds. Music video credits include such artists as Cypress Hill, 311, Twista, D12, Jay-Z and A Perfect Circle.

Weve assembled a great team of artists who have put Hollywood back on the map for short form post, said Guess. We are steadily expanding, weve been doubling our workload every quarter, and we are attracting fantastic work. The response weve received from our clients has been overwhelming.

Guess added that the growth of Encores short form workload has been aided by its ability to tap the resources of other Ascent Media companies. In addition to all of the digital post work that we do here, we can tie in laboratory services (Ascent Media Laboratory) and audio post services (POP Sound) through our affiliates, Guess said. We can offer our clients packages that efficient and economical.

Joseph Nittolo, ceo of music video production company Raw Ent., said that Guess has played an instrumental role in helping steer his companys projects through post work. Going into post with a music video is always a challenge as there are so many options and variables to consider, he said. Griffin has helped us to take advantage of new technologies and resources, and to avoid pitfalls.

An advantage for 23-year-old Guess, is his young age, particularly in the youth-driven music video market. Because hes young, he understands the market and the client, as well as whats cool, said director Darren Grant, who has worked with Guess on recent videos for the artists Mya and T.I. That gives him an edge.

Guess joined Encore Hollywood last year from Hollywood Digital where he headed its short form post-production effort as creative director. He joined that facility as exec producer, music video sales in 2001. Guess formerly was the principal of two post-production boutiques, both located in Los Angeles.
