The Grudge Wins Halloween Box Office

Sonys horror hit, THE GRUDGE, led the box office chart for the second week in a row, scaring up $21.8M over the Halloween weekend ended Oct. 31, 2004, on its way to $70.6M. Universals Ray Charles biopic, RAY, debuted at number two with $20M, while Lions Gates SAW bowed in third place with $18.2M. DreamWorks 3D-animated SHARK TALE slipped to fourth with $7.5M and a whopping cume of $146.8M. Miramaxs SHALL WE DANCE? finished fifth with $6.2M and $33.9M. Universals FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS came in sixth with $4M and $52.9M. Buena Vistas LADDER 49 took the seventh spot with $3.2M and $66.1M. . Paramounts TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE marionette madness fell to eighth with $3M and a disappointing cume of $27.2M. DreamWorks SURVIVING CHRISTMAS finished ninth with $2.4M and $7.9M. And Foxs TAXI settled for 10th place with $2.1M and $32.7M.

Go Fishs GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: INNOCENCE actually increased its take 37% with $23,570, as it climbed to $924,482. Box office information obtained from boxofficemojo.com.
