The Grinch Steals Int BO As Charlie's Angels Fades

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS and DINOSAUR picked up steam at the international box office as former champ CHARLIE'S ANGELS faded a bit. In Mexico, THE GRINCH made its debut in first with a gross of US$2.29 million. BEDAZZLED fell to second with a ticket take of $1.51 million, raising its Mexican cume to $3.51 million. In fourth, CHARLIE'S ANGELS flew in another $645,425, elevating its Mexican cume to $3.91 million. Rounding out the Mexican top ten, THE CELL captured $48,406 to push its cume to $2.36 million. In the U.K., THE GRINCH grabbed an additional $4.58 million in first, elevating its cume to $10.21 million. In second, CHARLIE'S ANGELS seduced another $2.75 million, lifting its U.K. cume to $13.97 million. 102 DALMATIANS collared $2.16 million in its third place premiere. At #4, WHAT LIES BENEATH scared up an additional $617,828 to advance its U.K. cume to $18.88 million. Dropping 37% from its debut last week, RED PLANET set down in fifth with a gross of $368,246, climbing its U.K. cume to $954,490. In seventh, URBAND LEGENDS: FINAL CUT added $347,278 to its $895,677 U.K. cume. In Canada, THE GRINCH made off with $1.89 million in its fourth week, advancing its cume to $11.39 million. In second, UNBREAKABLE snatched $694,132, bringing its Canadian cume to $5.19 million. 102 DALMATIANS barked in $381,759 in third, raising its Canadian cume to $1.69 million. In fourth, CHARLIE'S ANGELS kicked in another $294,786 to its Canadian cume of $13.14 million. At #5, THE 6TH DAY cloned $173,836, growing its Canadian cume to $2.57 million. In seventh, RUGRATS IN PARIS collected $117,865, bringing its Canadian cume to $1.24 million. In Japan, DINOSAUR's debut stomped into first place with a gross of $1.4 million. The premiere of VERTICAL LIMIT had to settle for second and a gross of $982,514. In third, WHAT LIES BENEATH's Japanese debut only took home $622,914. CHARLIE'S ANGELS slipped from #1 to finish fourth, grossing $569,530, thus growing its Japanese cume to $4.45 million. In fifth, THE EXORCIST possessed another $486,627 to elevate its Japanese cume to $1.92 million. SPACE COWBOYS docked in seventh with a gross of $239,602, pushing its Japanese cume to $2.77 million. At #8, FREQUENCY made a lackluster premiere grossing only $229,215. In France, DINOSAUR held onto the #1 slot with a gross of $4.92 million, escalating its cume to $11.78 million. In a third place premiere, THE GRINCH scrounged up $1.44 million. CHARLIE'S ANGELS placed fourth with a gross of $1.38 million, raising its French cume to $7.37 million. In sixth, RED PLANET dropped 48% in its second week in France, grossing $563,414, thereby bringing its cume to $1.65 million. At #8, SCARY MOVIE added $385,923 to its $18.78 million French cume.
