Go Behind the Scenes of ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ at SPARK FX 2019

Special Friday night program featuring Sony Pictures Animation’s hit animated superhero adventure highlights annual visual and digital effects conference and career fair coming February 8-10 in Vancouver.  

VANCOUVER -- SPARK FX 2019 Conference and Career Fair, February 9 and 10, continues its 11-year record of attracting many of the most successful visual franchise names in film history, including Star Wars, Star Trek, and Blade Runner. This year, a bonus Friday night event on February 8 at 7 pm gives conference pass-holders the opportunity to go behind the scenes with the local FX creators of Golden Globe-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In addition, a Diversity & Inclusion Summit is free to attend from noon to 4 pm on Sunday, February 10.

Featuring an all-star line-up of animation and VFX creatives, this two-day industry conference offers a prime opportunity to learn from and meet with some of the most skilled and innovative luminaries from visual and digital effects studios today. Through presentations and panels, they will take conference-goers inside the creation of their iconic films, including among them: Welcome to Marwen, Mary Poppins Returns, Aquaman, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Vancouver’s SPARK FX 2019 Conference is the biggest little conference of its kind, featuring a prestigious line-up of animation and VFX creatives that offers attendees a prime opportunity to learn from and meet with some of the most skilled and innovative luminaries from FX studios today. SPARK FX Career Fair offers face time with 18 of the world’s top studios

Free to attend, the SPARK FX 2019 Career on February 9 provides opportunities to meet with decision-makers on internationally acclaimed productions that are looking to hire. Everyone from animation students to seasoned CGI professionals looking for a job change have the chance to connect and meet one-on-one with representatives of 18 top-tier film and television studios. Diversity & Inclusion Summit explores “Tools for Change”

In the male-dominated fields of film, games, and technology, diversity and inclusion are themes ripe for exploration. Co-presented by SPARK Computer Graphics Society (SPARK CG) and Vancouver Visual Effects Society (Vancouver VES), the Diversity & Inclusion Summit on Sunday, February 10, is designed for a mixed audience. Presenters will offer practical advice on equal pay and how to navigate difficult situations, career path challenges, and life/family balance commitments. The event is free to attend for anyone who is interested in joining the discussion and investigating the theme of “Tools for Change.”
