Gnosis to Produce Will Vinton's Animated Feature, 'The Quest'

Los Angeles-based Gnosis Moving Pictures announces the production of its first animated feature, The Quest, an absurdist look at outer space meant for all ages and featuring the voice of Monty Python alum John Cleese.

LOS ANGELES --

Company CEO Darius A. Kamali announced the formation of Gnosis Moving Pictures, a global, multicultural studio with a focus on CG-animation and live action features that “aim to explore the human condition, promote communal understanding and reflect the creative potential of each individual.”

Will Vinton

The company has one to two projects slated per year, both animated live action, while also moving aggressively into social and mobile gaming with partner company IPFranchise.

Gnosis is producing its first animated feature, The Quest, in creative partnership with Vinton Entertainment. The film, which Oscar winner (and five-time nominee) Will Vinton will direct from a script by Vinton, Andrew Weise and Peter Crabbe, and visual design by Bruce Zick (The Lion King, Wall-E, Finding Nemo, Prince of Egypt) is a Monty Python-esque, absurdist look at outer space aimed at all ages and will feature the voice talent of Python alum John Cleese.

Through its alliance with IPFranchise, Gnosis also is poised to take on the social and mobile free to play space, developing both original intellectual properties, branded studio titles and digital extensions of the Gnosis film slate, allowing the company additional marketing muscle. IPFranchise, headed by Kandice Cota, currently is developing a social/mobile gaming platform for The Pink Panther franchise in partnership with MGM Studios.

“It’s an exciting time to be working with world renowned content creators,” said Kamali. “With a multitude of platforms available to help distribute and promote projects for a global audience, we’re very excited to be launching the company with collaborators such as the legendary Will Vinton and the innovators at IPFranchise.”

Kamali, in addition to working in media, has been a vocal advocate for human rights through his work with the International Monitor Institute & Human Rights Watch. He has served as associate producer on the Annie Award-nominated Igor, which was released by MGM &The Weinstein Company, and is a Co-Executive Producer of the upcoming feature The Hero of Color City scheduled to release though Magnolia Pictures in 2015. He also has worked on a number of documentary projects with Jaffe, Weller-Grossman, Scott Free, and a World of Wonder Productions that have aired on network and major cable distributors including History Channel/A&E, CBS, and the Trio Network.
