Two-day event to include Digital Domain co-founder and Virtuosity VR CEO Scott Ross, The Third Floor founder Chris Edwards, former Disney exec Kevin Geiger, PDI co-founder Richard Chuang, and more.

Key players in visual entertainment from China, the U.S. and Europe will congregate in Beijing on December 1 & 2 for the annual International Conference & Exhibition on Visual Entertainment.

ICEVE is aimed at video content producers in China with the mission to guide participants towards future opportunities, address the challenges faced in the industry and to elevate content by inspiring more innovative thinking.

The event comprises two-days of keynotes, panels and workshops on issues surrounding VR, film, VFX, animation and emerging technologies led by a distinguished array of industry leaders including Scott Ross (co-founder of Digital Domain, CEO of Virtuosity VR), Chris Edwards (founder & CEO, The Third Floor, co-founder of VRC), Kevin Geiger (former VP of Disney China and Executive Director of iAVRC), John Dietz (Producer & VFX Supervisor, BangBang Pictures), Richard Chuang (CEO Cloudpic, co-founder of PDI), Kurt Akeley (“The father of the OpenGL”) and Jim Chabin (President of The Advanced Imaging Society and The VR Society).

“ICEVE is unique because we bring the top technical and creative talents to China’s rapidly growing market,” says event director and Beijing Film Academy Associate Professor Charles Wang, “and showcase the latest visual technologies.”

The event also includes an exhibition element showcasing the latest production technology and a visual entertainment awards ceremony hosted by the 4th China Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (CSMPTE).

More than the 5,000 film and television content providers have attended ICEVE since its foundation in 2011. The conference is organized by the Advanced Innovation Center for Future Visual Entertainment (AIS China), a government-funded initiative led by the world renowned Beijing Film Academy, bringing together a group of Chinese Universities, research institutes, and technology companies. The group strives to provide opportunities for discussion around visual technologies and innovative arts for entertainment in the 21st Century.

The Beijing Film Academy is the only autonomous film college in China and the largest in Asia with over 2,300 Bachelor, Master, PHD and Post doctorate students enrolled this year. The BFA has educated more than half of China’s filmmaking practitioners.
