GLAS Animation Festival Heads Online April 5-11

Festival unveils official poster and competition jury; GIF competition is now open – upload your masterpiece by March 10 for a chance to win.

GLAS Animation Festival seeks to create a unique culture and community for artists, filmmakers, and film enthusiasts to critically engage with animation as an artform. This year, the event moves online, taking place April 5-11 right in your living room. Special guest speakers for the upcoming festival edition will be announced in the coming weeks.

The GLAS Animation Festival 2021 poster has been created by UK-based French artist illustrator and filmmaker, Jonathan Djob Nkondo, who is also serving on the Official Competition Jury. 

Other jury members include:

Dahee Jeong - Born in South Korea, she studied communication design in Seoul and Animation in Paris. Since 2013 she has worked as an independent animation film director and producer. Her first film, Man on the Chair (2014) won the Cristal for a Short Film at the Annecy Int’l Animation Festival. Her subsequent work, The Empty (2016) won the Grand Prix at the Hiroshima Int’l Animation Festival and Movements (2019) was presented at the Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight. Jeong is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

Shen Jie – A graduate of the Shanghai Institute of Technology in 2012, Jie’s animated short films were screened at film and animation festivals around the world. Currently he lives and works in Shanghai.

The GIF Competition for GLAS Animation Festival 2021, sponsored by GIPHY Arts, is now open for entries. To enter simply create a GIPHY account, upload your GIF masterpiece, and tag it #glas2021 for a chance to win $500.
