FOX Picks Up Napoleon Dynamite, Jonah Hill Toons

FOX has greenlit two new animated series for next season, reports Deadline.com. NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, based on the cult comedy, is getting six episodes. ALLEN GREGORY, which is being co-written and exec produced by Jonah Hill, has a seven-episode order. 20th Century Fox TV is producing both series with ALLEN being co-produced by Chernin Entertainment.

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE creators Jared and Jerusha Hess adapted the film into a series with THE SIMPSONS' Mike Scully. All three will exec produce the animated series. Jon Heder will return to voice the title character, a high school geek who with his awkward friends tries to deal with life in rural Idaho.

ALLEN GREGORY follows the world famous seven-year-old as he enters regular elementary school. Hill penned the script with Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul (YES MAN). All three will exec produce with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope.
