‘Flee’ and ‘Peel’ Take Top Cristal Awards at Annecy 2021

Films by Jonas Poher Rasmussen and Samuel Patthey & Silvain Monney among 20 winners at the 45th festival edition, held both on-site and virtually, finally able to celebrate its 60th anniversary postponed from 2020 when the event was forced online due to the pandemic.

The 2021 edition of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the Mifa has just ended. A "battle" of an edition, according to CEO Mickaël Marin, that brought together more than 8,000 badge holders, half on-site. Despite the continuing challenges in the face of the continuing pandemic, professionals from and 96 countries and the local public finally celebration the eagerly-awaited 60th anniversary, which was postponed from last year.

This year, in a ceremony held at the Festival, hosted by Marin and festival director Marcel Jean, Annecy 2021 handed out the following 20 awards:

After consistently supporting a feature film presented at the WIP (Work in Progress) since 2014 at Annecy, the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution is from now on awarding a Feature Film in the Official Competition. Presented by esteemed actor André Dussollier, this prize was given to Haut et Court, the French distributor of Flee, to enable them to organize several specific promotional actions for the film’s release in cinema theatres.
