First Animated Kid’s Film About the Holocaust to Air May 1 in Israel

After successfully broadcast run in Italy, Rai and Larcadarte’s ‘The Star of Andra and Tati’ will air in Israel on Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust Memorial Day.

The Star of Andra and Tati, the first animated film for kids about the Holocaust, will air May 1 and 2 on Kan, the Israeli public broadcaster. The programming honors Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust Memorial Day, which is celebrated on the 27th day of Nissan in Israel, according to the Jewish calendar.

The film was produced by Rai Ragazzi and Larcadarte, directed by Rosalba Vitellaro and Alessandro Belli with drawings by Annalisa Corsi. The Star of Andra and Tati tells the true story of two Italian sisters, Andra and Tatiana Bucci - ages 4 and 6 - who survived the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The 26-minute film tells the girl’s stories while being intertwined with the present-day story of children visiting Auschwitz with their teacher.

The Star of Andra and Tati has successfully aired on Italian channels Rai3 and Rai Gulp and been used as educational material in schools.
