Festival Stop Motion Montréal 2021 Issues Call for Entries

The event, running September 10-19, is accepting short film projects using puppet animation, object animation and/or pixilation; deadline for submissions is July 2.

Festival Stop Motion Montréal is currently accepting film submissions for its upcoming edition; independent, professional, and student filmmakers are invited to submit their short films. The festival, which runs September 10-19, will once again offer international short films screenings, stop motion discovery activities for young and mature audiences, a round table discussion, and networking opportunities. While most activities will be offered online again this year, some activities will be held in-person, following local guidelines and safety precautions.

Projects of 30 minutes or less, produced after January 1, 2019 and using puppet animation, object animation and/or pixilation, are eligible for submission. There are no submission fees. Selected films will be eligible for the following prizes:

  • Best Professional Film
  • Best Independent Film
  • Best Emerging Talent Film
  • Best Youth Film
  • Public Choice Award
  • NAD School Special Prize for A Canadian Artist

The submission deadline is July 2, 2021.

Details regarding the call for entries is available here.

Professional development workshops for artists will be held from September 13 to 17, some of which are being planned as in-person activities to allow local artists to meet. More details will be revealed this summer regarding the possibility of offering on-site events.
