Fest Anča International Animation Festival Moves Online

Slovakia’s only animation festival targeted to mature audiences, running July 1-4, will feature online streaming of animated films via the Festhome.com streaming platform; film viewing will be available for one week after the program’s conclusion.

The 14th edition of Fest Anča International Animation Festival is set to run online from July 1-4. The only animated festival in Slovakia targeted to a mature audience, the event aims to raise awareness about animated film as an autonomous art form and expose participants to multiple styles and aspects.

This year the festival will showcase its film and other program events via Spanish streaming platform Festhome.com. Slovakian virtual ticket holders will have full access to all films; some screening sections will be accessible to viewers from other European countries. Slovak and English subtitles will be provided. Concerts will be streamed on Facebook.

“We’d been working hard on the festival all year, and since we wanted to do it just as planned, we opted to go online,” noted festival director Ivana Sujová. “We held back as long as we dared and hoped for brighter times, but even with the COVID alert system for cultural events we still couldn’t risk going live.”

Fest Anča will stream films through July 11 with the purchase of online tickets – concerts are excluded.

Additional information is available on the event website.
