Expression Center for New Media has named one of its state-of-the-art digital media labs in honor of late animation legend Chuck Jones. The Chuck Jones Lab in Emeryville, California will be used by Expression Digital Visual Media students to create 3D animation and modeling using Maya, After Effects, Flash, Vicon Workstation and Kaydara FiLMBOX software, plus Dell precision workstations with 2.2GHz processors and Trinitron monitors.
During the Golden Age of animation, Jones helped bring to life many of Warner Brothers' most famous characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig. He also produced, directed and wrote the screenplays for DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS. He employed, trained and inspired many generations of accomplished animators.
"As one of the most famous and most collected animation artists in history, we felt it was our duty and honor to dedicate our most impressive digital media lab to the great Chuck Jones," said Gary Platt, president/founder, Ex'pression Center for New Media. "It is important to us that our students are immersed in a world where they are exposed and inspired by works of artists who have paved the way in the industry and more importantly learn from the techniques of such masters as Chuck Jones."
