Expanded GLAS Animation Grants Program Open for Applications

New sponsorships have enabled larger awards for 2021; applications being accepted from U.S.-based individual filmmakers/artists through August 1.

The GLAS Animation Grant program supports artists and filmmakers making bold, groundbreaking, independent work. Over the last three years, six grants have been awarded directly to filmmakers towards the development and production of their original short films. The program is expanding this year due to support from of an anonymous donor, GKIDS, and Wacom; both the number of grants available as well as their value is increasing for 2021.

For the 2021 GLAS Animation Grant Cycle, two grants in the amount of $3,000 each, and a new grant in the amount of $6,000 will be offered to support the creation of independent short films. All three recipients will also receive a tablet courtesy of Wacom.

The grants will be awarded to individual filmmakers living and working in the United States. They are not currently available to students or for commercial projects (including music videos, TV show pitches or web series).

The GLAS Grant is accepting applications from June 1- August 1.
