Escape Studios Launches Unreal Engine Fundamentals Course

New five-week program covers an interactive introduction to the real-time 3D platform; features a range of artistic and technical tasks with each participant getting direct feedback from an assigned tutor.

Escape Studios has launched a new fully-online five-week Unreal Engine – Fundamentals course, featuring an interactive introduction to the real-time 3D platform. Participants will learn the fundamentals of Unreal Engine at their own pace, through exclusive course content overseen by Simon Fenton, Head of Games and an Unreal Engine authorized trainer. Students will be assigned a tutor to provide direct feedback over four key technical and artistic projects, while there will be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session in the final week. The program begins May 17.

Developed by Epic Games, Unreal Engine is the world's most open and advanced real-time 3D creation platform for photoreal visuals and immersive experiences. Escape Studios – which is part of Pearson College London, is currently the only Authorized Training Centre in the UK.

“As one of the world’s most powerful real-time 3D graphics platforms, Unreal Engine helps users deliver cutting-edge content, interactive experiences, and immersive virtual worlds,” explained Escape Studios director Dr. Ian Palmer. “Our mission at Escape Studios is to train the digital artists of tomorrow in the latest and most industry-relevant software, so we’re delighted to offer this exclusive new introductory course on Unreal Engine.”

“We’re excited to launch this unique online course dedicated to Unreal Engine, which will feature a range of artistic and technical tasks and direct tutor feedback,” added Fenton. “These introductory sessions will enable participants to establish a foundation to continue their journey in Unreal Engine, as well as join a community of like-minded learners to interact with and learn from.”

The course starts May 17 and will run five weeks on the Smashcut platform. Based on independent learning, it will feature 3-4 hours of video content and 9 hours of self-study and practice per week. Course fees are GBP 695 and learners must be aged 18 or over, with a good understanding of written and spoken English.
