eOne Announces Broadcast Sales for ‘Winston Steinburger’ in France and Belgium

Entertainment One inks deal with Cartoon Network in France and OUFtivi in Belgium for its new animated comedy series ‘Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong’ developed in collaboration with animation studio Sticky Pictures.

LONDON -- Entertainment One has announced broadcast sales for its new 2D-animated comedy series Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong.

Cartoon Network in France and public broadcaster OUFtivi in Belgium have acquired broadcast rights to the first series of the TV show, which will begin airing in France from February 2017 and in Belgium from June 2017.

The news follows the January 2 broadcast premiere of the show on Canada’s Corus-owned Teletoon, where it airs twice daily at 7.30am and 5pm Monday-Friday and on weekend mornings at 7.30am. Corus is helping to promote the show through bonus content on its Teletoon social channels including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. A gaming app based on the TV series has also recently launched in Canada and contains Comet levels which are unlocked by codes featured during the broadcast of the episodes.

The 52 X 11’ episodes from the first series were recently sold to Clan TVE in Spain and BIGGS in Portugal and the show has begun to roll out across multiple territories. Recent broadcast launches include ABC3 in Australia beginning September 2016 and KIX in the U.K. in October 2016, where on average it performs 62 percent above the channel’s average and ranks in its top 10 shows. The show will be heading to MBC Group in the Middle East and North Africa from September 2017.

“We are extremely excited to introduce the hijinks of Winston and friends to kids and families in France and Belgium when the show launches next year,” comments Monica Candiani, Head of International Sales at eOne Family comments. “The growing list of countries now on board is testament to the show’s universal appeal of laughter and adventure.”

Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong is a high-energy comedy cartoon series for 6-12 year olds that has been developed by eOne in collaboration with multi-award winning animation studio Sticky Pictures and co-produced with broadcasters TELETOON Canada and ABC3 Australia.

The show follows the hilarious adventures of thrill-seeking space kid, Winston Steinburger, his feline best friend, Sir Dudley, and an uptight alien, Hampton, as they explore the galaxy together in a homemade space cruiser seeking out fun adventures. The three astronomical amigos face death on a daily basis, squaring off against bubbling planets, bad-breathed Space-bandits and the worst nemesis of all – Pam the Destroyer – a tweenie bopper with a manic personality, an itchy trigger finger and a mega crush on Winston.
