Honayn's Shoe

Honayn's Shoe, an animated tale about a lost nomad’s search in the desert, with his camel, for his lost shoe, was named Best Animation at this year’s African Movie Academy Awards. The film, directed by Egyptian animator and lecturer Mohamed Ghazala, was produced with Cinema Palace in the Cairo Ministry of Culture.  The film had been nominated along with four other films:  Adventure of Alayo (Nigeria), Zoodo (Burkina Faso), Lyrics (Algeria) and One Step of Love (Algeria).

The African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is held annually to honor distinguished actors and actresses, directors and writers in the African movie industry. This year’s event, the sixth edition, was held in Yenogoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, Nigeria, bringing together a large number of celebrities from the African continent. The African Film Academy, which bestows the awards, is analogous to the Motion Picture Academy in the US in terms of its high profile and importance to African filmmaking.

A complete list of the award winners can be found on the Africa Movie Academy Awards website.
