DUCK has added to their stable of top-notch talent with the signing of Santiago, Chile-based motion design studio SMOG (Santiago Motion Graphics). A creative powerhouse with a dedication to typography and concept visualization, SMOG frequently draws influence from outside the design world to create new and unexpected looks.
SMOG - which is run by partners Moisés Arancibia and Pablo González, who joined forces in 2006 - has worked with major agencies JWT, Ogilvy & Mather, Lowe Porta, Grey, Dittborn & Unzueta, and several Chilean-based shops. Their clients include Rally Mobil, Central Bank of Chile, Santander Bank, CDF (Chile's Soccer Channel), Carmen Winery, UNICEF, La Tercera newspaper, Monopoly Hasbro, 3M, Unilever, TVN channel, and Sebastian Gutierrez' film Elektra Luxx. Their trophy case includes a Golden Clio Award.
"SMOG brings an international flavor and deep and versatile experience to DUCK," noted DUCK EP Mark Medernach. "They have a very unique look that frankly blew us away when we first saw it. When they agreed to sign with us, we were thrilled to bring their very unique creative powers to our clients."
Arancibia gained recognition at design collective Bidet for his excellent work in the local music industry. His work has been featured in Stash, Zupi Magazine (Brazil), and the book A Tribute to Celebrities. González directed music videos and advertising projects for major clients via Twist Films. His art directing resume includes the Chilean film La Nana, which was nominated for a Golden Globe and earned World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. The pair originally met in design school.
