Angelique Cabral (‘Big Sky,’ ‘Life in Pieces’) will lend her voice to Queen Amaya alongside Chris Pine as King Magnifico in the upcoming epic musical-comedy opening in theaters November 22.
Angelique Cabral (Big Sky, Life in Pieces) has joined the voice cast of Walt Disney Animation’s musical-comedy Wish as Queen Amaya alongside Chris Pine as King Magnifico of Rosas, a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true. We’ve also got a new trailer and poster, plus a full cast list.
Wish introduces Asha, voiced by Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (Hamilton, Schmigadoon!), a sharp-witted idealist who makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force—a little ball of boundless energy called Star. Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe—the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico—to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.
Featuring the voice of Alan Tudyk as Asha’s favorite goat, Valentino, the film also stars Victor Garber as Asha’s grandfather, Sabino; Natasha Rothwell as Asha’s loving and supportive mom, Sakina; Jennifer Kumiyama as Asha’s dearest friend, Dahlia; Evan Peters as Simon; Harvey Guillén as Gabo; Ramy Youseff as Safi; Niko Vargas as Hal; Della Saba as Bazeema; and Jon Rudnitsky as Dario.
The film is helmed by Oscar-winning director Chris Buck (Frozen, Frozen 2) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon), produced by Peter Del Vecho (Frozen, Frozen 2) and co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes (Encanto). Jennifer Lee (Frozen, Frozen 2) executive produces and co-writes with Allison Moore (Night Sky, Manhunt).
Original songs are by singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, with a score by composer Dave Metzger.
Wish continues Disney Animation’s tradition of bringing epic tales to the big screen for the Thanksgiving holiday and beyond. The film also marks the culmination of Disney100, a yearlong celebration honoring the legacy of Walt Disney while continuing to push the boundaries of storytelling and innovation for the next 100 years.
Wish opens in U.S. theaters on November 22, 2023.
