Disney Channel Kicks Off Fall Lineup

Disney Channel's September is highlighted by two new series joining the Jetix action/adventure lineup GET ED and KONG: THE ANIMATED SERIES presented mornings on ABC Family and evenings on Toon Disney.

Also in September, Toon Disney's popular Jetix block expands by 20 hours weekdays (7:00 pm 2:00 a. ET/PT) and weekends (4:00 pm 2:00 am ET/PT), delivering programming for kids 6-11, especially boys 6-11.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, Disney Channel celebrates Grandparent's Day with a special airing of the summer ratings hit THE PROUD FAMILY MOVIE and an episode of AMERICAN DRAGON: JAKE LONG in which Jake discovers that his seemingly ancient, out-of-touch Grandpa was once a stylin' super-agent in Hong Kong but now that Grandpa has been captured by the Dark Dragon, it's up to proud grandson Jake to save him.

On Mondays, beginning Sept. 12, Playhouse Disney launches Movie Time Monday (11:00 am, ET/PT) an animated movie for preschoolers every Monday, featuring classic and new Disney characters. This month features THE LION KING II: SIMBA'S PRIDE, THE TIGGER MOVIE and LILO & STITCH.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, Maggie is tired of being pushed around so she decides to snitch on the school bully Snap. But when Maggie discovers Snap's embarrassing secrets, she believes she's taken her quest to be a "bully breaker" too far, on DISNEY'S THE BUZZ ON MAGGIE at 5:30 pm, ET/PT.

Starting Friday, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11, Toon Disney invites kids and families to tune in to 10 animated Disney movies, among them TARZAN, HERCULES, THE RESCUERS, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and ROBIN HOOD during Toon Disney's Big Movie Weekend, which airs Friday at 5:00 pm, ET/PT; Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 am-7:00 pm, ET/PT.

Beginning Monday, Sept. 12 through Thursday, Sept. 15, Toon Disney's Gigantic Ginormous Movies Week is highlighted by the debut of DRAGONS: FIRE & ICE, DIGIMON: THE MOVIE, DRAGONS: METAL AGES and SILVERWING: A GLIMPSE OF THE SON. The films will be broadcast at 3:00 pm ET/PT with an encore airing at 5:00 pm ET/PT.

On Monday, Sept. 19, Toon Disney presents the premiere of the Jetix action/adventure series, GET ED, with two consecutive episodes (7:30-8:30 pm, ET/PT). Set in the immense futuristic metropolis of Progress City, the series follows Ed, a teen scientifically created from an ancient artifact. Ed is humanity's only hope for defeating Bedlam, the ultimate evil villain who is intent on overtaking the world. Ed and his companions at the underground courier service Dojo Deliveries, have a secret edge Ed's yet untapped abilities which they must use in their quest to undermine Bedlam's ever-tightening control. Impossible odds like this can get a teen down, but not Ed he's having too much fun. The series will also premiere Saturday, Sept. 24 (9:00-10:00 am, ET/PT) during Jetix on ABC Family.

KONG: THE ANIMATED SERIES (8:30-9:30 pm, ET/PT) will premiere with two episodes during the Jetix programming block on Toon Disney. The story picks up 18 years after King Kong fell off the Empire State Building. As it goes, a young scientist had secretly cloned Kong and to protect him from the world, took the genetic copy to Kong Island. Years later, the scientist's grandson Jason and his friend Tan introduce their teacher, Mr. De La Porta, to the long held secret of Kong, only to have the teacher steal the isle's Primal Stones, the incredible objects that control the balance of the land and ensure an imprisoned god, Chyros, does not escape. In order to repair order, Jason, Tan, a shaman girl named Lua and Kong must journey around the world to retrieve the stones and stop De La Porta once and for all. The series will also premiere with two consecutive episodes Saturday, Sept. 24 (10:00-11:00 am, ET/PT) during Jetix on ABC Family.
