Disney Announces the 2000 Disney Legends Recipients

The Walt Disney Co. has announced the recipients of the 2000 Disney Legends Awards in honor of individuals whose work has made a significant and lasting impact on the Disney legacy. Grace Bailey will posthumously receive the honor for a 40-year Disney career in which she served as head of the Ink and Paint department. Harriet Burns was the studio's first woman Imagineer and a pioneer in designing and building prototypes for Disney's theme park attractions. Joyce Carlson was a studio inker, who went on to build prototypes of IT'S A SMALL WORLD and other theme park attractions. Ron Dominguez was the former vice president of Walt Disney Attractions who was instrumental in Disneyland operations from the start. Becky Fallberg was a 45-year Disney veteran who served as manager of the Ink and Paint department. Dodie Roberts was a 45-year Disney veteran who created colors and mixed paints for the studio and served as supervisor of the paint lab. Ruthie Tompson was the former supervisor of scene planning who helped to establish camera mechanics for animation. Voice-actors receiving the honor are Dick Jones, the voice of Pinocchio, and Cliff Edwards, voice of Jiminy Cricket, who is receiving the award posthumously. In addition, also receiving the honor posthumously, Retta Scott was Disneys first woman animator whose credits include BAMBI, WIND IN THE WILLOWS and THE RELUCTANT DRAGON.
