Digital-Tutors Announces New Rendering in ZBrush 3.1 Training

Digital-Tutors released MATERIALS AND RENDERING IN ZBRUSH 3.1, the latest release in a growing library of interactive training for emerging digital artists using ZBrush 3.1, the award-winning integrated modeling, texturing and illustration environment developed by Pixologic.

Digital-Tutors has developed a series of training solutions to teach new and experienced artists the powerful capabilities available in ZBrush 3. MATERIALS AND RENDERING IN ZBRUSH 3.1 provides nearly four hours of project-based training and delivers an array of timesaving techniques for use in film, games and illustration.

"This is among the first comprehensive guides to understanding the powerful capabilities of ZBrush's materials and rendering tools, and methods in which to incorporate them into an artist's workflow," said Kyle Green, director of Curriculum Development at Digital-Tutors. "We're excited about this release for multiple reasons, one of which is simply because this is a hidden gem inside ZBrush and many artists have yet to tap its potential. Digital-Tutors is dedicated to teaching new and professional artists the tools and software, but we're always aiding artists with adapting and staying current with the latest trends in technology and technique."

Highlights include: an overview of ZBrush material types, understanding ZBrush's material attributes, using doublecolor, tricolor, quadcolor shaders for complex shading effects, utilizing shader channels, using Matcap materials to capture shading from real-world objects, building custom Matcap shaders, ZBrush light types, controlling and adjusting shadows, placing lights on the ZBrush canvas, utilizing fog for appeal, Depth Cue for distance-based blur, anti-aliasing settings for render quality, saving rendered images from ZBrush and post-render adjustments for appeal in ZBrush.
