Digital Gravy Announces Salt Lake Animation Expo

The in-person/virtual hybrid event features presenters, panels, and Q&A sessions with a focus on the future of animation; confirmed guests include Toon Boom wizard Matt Watts and VFX artist Ron Friedman – the event runs May 20-21.

Utah-based studio Digital Gravy has announced its first ever Salt Lake Animation Expo, an in-person/virtual hybrid event with a focus on the future of animation, featuring presentations, panels, and Q&A sessions on innovative techniques and technologies. The in-person expo will take place at the Slopes Expo Center in Draper, Utah on May 20-21 with remote live streaming events, virtual booths, and live Discord chats for those not able to attend.

Presenters include:

  • Toon Boom wizard Matt Watts (Tangled: The Series, Kid Cosmic, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder)
  • Visual effects artist Ron Friedman (The Book of Boba Fett, Pan’s Labyrinth, Shang Chi, The Suicide Squad, Loki)
  • Animation director Scott Wiser (Spacestation Animation)
  • Producer Kelly Loosli (BYU Center for Animation).

Additional guests, sponsors and presenters will be announced in the upcoming weeks. The in-person event will also feature booths from local and visiting artists. Those interested can also take part in portfolio reviews, sponsor giveaways, and screenings of demo reels and other content.
