DHX Teams with P2 for New ‘Night Garden’ App

DHX Media and P2 Entertainment partner to launch a brand new In the Night Garden app.

Leading interactive publisher P2 Entertainment announced its partnership with DHX Media, a leader in the licensing of family entertainment rights, to launch a brand new In the Night Garden app.

P2 have a proven track record in publishing high quality licensed apps for children. The new In the Night Garden app is set to include 4-5 different activities themed around the show’s iconic and much-loved characters: Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka, The Tombliboos and The Ninky Nonk. Alongside the activities, the app will be filled with the soothing original theme music, magical sound effects and popular catchphrases from the hit preschool show - as well as bespoke narration that will give instructions and encouragement to little ones. Developed by London based digital creative agency Scary Beasties, the app will target In the Night Garden fans aged 2-5, with a release on iOS and Android scheduled for May 2014.

Since first airing in the UK in 2007, In the Night Garden has become the number one in its time slot, for children aged 0-3 years and continues to gain huge audiences both at home and abroad – being shown in 19 different languages across 36 countries. The release of this new app will be timed to capitalise on the excitement that will be generated by the opening of CBeebies Land in May 2014, where on the ‘In the Night Garden Magical Boat Ride’, fans will be able to journey through a real –life version of their favorite show.

On the exciting partnership, Gerry Whiteside, Co-Director of P2 Entertainment said, “The regular 6:20pm slot on CBeebies every evening means that the show has become an important part of the bedtime routine for many families and every year a new generation of fans welcomes the show into their home. This will allow us to target a growing audience and we are committed to creating an app that truly captures the unique essence of what makes In the Night Garden special.”

Stephen Gould, UK Managing Director of CPLG said, “As the leaders in the field of licensed preschool apps, we have every confidence that P2 can deliver an app that In the Night Garden fans will love. Apps by their nature, promote two-way interaction and this is something that will add an extra dimension to fans In the Night Garden experience, giving them the opportunity to step into a world that has seemed to be beyond their reach.”
