‘Deadpool’ Creator Rob Liefeld Signs ‘Prophet’ Movie Deal

Studio 8 plans franchise for Image Comics DNA enhanced super-soldier.

Rob Liefeld, the prolific comic book writer, artist and creator of seminal properties such as Deadpool, X-Force and Youngblood, has signed a deal with Studio 8 to create a movie franchise based on his comic book series, Prophet, according to Deadline. Liefeld will produce the first film along with Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) and Brooklyn Weaver (Out of the Furnace).

Prophet tells the story of John Prophet, a poor, homeless man who becomes a super-soldier through a DNA enhancement transformation. Introduced in Liefeld’s Youngblood, John Prophet was given his own series in 1993.

Another Liefeld creation, Cable, was just seen in Deadpool 2, and will be featured in Fox’s upcoming X-Force movie said to begin shooting this October. Liefeld also just signed a seven-figure rights deal with Netflix for his Extreme Universe graphic novel characters, which will be overseen by Akiva Goldsman.
