Darth Maul Now Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe

Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in STAR WARS: EPISODE I - THE PHANTOM MENACE, has landed the role of Snake Eyes in Stephen Sommer's live-action feature adaptation of G.I. JOE, confirms /FILM.

Snake Eyes, a fan favorite of the animated series, was a mysterious ninja master, who was romantically connected with his fellow G.I. Joe member Scarlett. Park joins Sam Worthington (James Cameron's AVATAR) and Sienna Miller (STARDUST, FACTORY GIRL) in the summer 2009 tentpole. No announcement has come as to whom Worthington will play, but rumors have Miller in the role of the villain Baroness.

Based on a script by Stuart Beattie (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL), the Paramount production will follow a co-ed force using hi-tech weapons to fight the terrorist organization Cobra.

Producers are Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Hasbro's Brian Goldner.
