‘Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood’ All-New Special Premieres on PBS Kids November 25

The all-new Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood special, “Snowflake Day,” will premiere on PBS Kids November 25.

Preschoolers and families nationwide will get into the holiday spirit with “Snowflake Day,” a musical new half-hour special episode of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, premiering on PBS KIDS this November 25 (check local listings). Full of twinkling lights and seasonal cheer, the vibrant show introduces two catchy songs performed by the acclaimed Canadian jazz singer Matt Dusk, including an original holiday-themed version of the series’ familiar opening tune.  The show’s opening also features charming new animation set against a wintery backdrop of snowflakes falling throughout the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.

“The song-filled ’Snowflake Day’ is such a merry and bright way for parents and preschoolers to celebrate the season, and we’re delighted that families around the country will get to snuggle up and tune in together,” said Angela C. Santomero, creator and executive producer of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. “The holidays are a special time for parents and children and ‘Snowflake Day’ reinforces the warmth and gentle lessons pioneered by Fred Rogers, which are especially meaningful this time of year.”

The new holiday episode finds the whole Neighborhood celebrating Snowflake Day, and Daniel Tiger has a very important role in the annual Snowflake Day Show. As a snowflake, he officially opens the play, and he can’t wait to say his lines! The Enchanted Garden is full of excitement and winter cheer as everyone pitches in to make the celebration a true Neighborhood success. As they get ready for the big performance, Daniel and his friends realize that everyone is different and special – just like a snowflake. Young viewers also learn that spending time with friends is what the holidays are all about, not getting presents, and that when we all work together, celebrations are even more wonderful.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is the first television series produced by The Fred Rogers Company since the iconic Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and debuted on PBS KIDS in September 2012. Every episode features two endearing stories starring 4-year-old Daniel Tiger and his best friends, who invite young viewers to come with them on fun adventures as they explore the colorful Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Series creator Angela C. Santomero (Super WHY, Blue’s Clues) of lead production partner Out of the Blue Enterprises is co-executive producer of the show, along with Kevin Morrison of The Fred Rogers Company and Vince Commisso of the award-winning animation studio 9 Story Entertainment.
