Dane Smith Joins India’s Digitales Studios

VFX producer on Oscar-nominated stop-motion animated feature ‘Anomalisa’ joins Mumbai-based 3D animation studio as international business development producer charged with establishing the company’s presence in Los Angeles.

MUMBAI -- Award-winning 3D animation studio Digitales Studios, a division of Karishma Software Pvt. Ltd., one of India’s leading animation development and production companies in the region, has appointed established animation producer Dane A. Smith as the international business development producer for the U.S. and Canada. Working with the studio management in Mumbai, Smith will lead business development and be the point of contact for North American clients of the studio.

After having worked on this year’s Emmy Award-winning preschool show, Bing Bunny, for Brown Bag Films and Acamar Films, Digitales has recently delivered Alpha and Omega: The Big Fureeze for Hollywood Producer Splash Entertainment, which Lionsgate will release on DVD, Digital HD and On Demand on November 8 and is working on the next instalment of the Alpha and Omega franchise as well as a number of international TV series.

Smith assumes his new role effective immediately, reporting into Digitales’s MD, Dipesh Desai, and working closely with business development director R.K. Chand. Smith is charged with fueling Digitales’ focus on production services for animation in direct to DVD, home entertainment and feature film as well as VR space, and continuing to provide support as the producer of the existing client base in North America and Canadian kids TV space. Dane had worked recently with Digitales Studios and Legend VR for Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders VR experience motion comics launched at San Diego Comic Con in July 2016.

Smith is a highly experienced Los Angeles based producer who has managed delivery of more than 100 film, television and emerging media productions and specializes in 3D animation production, virtual reality capture and display, and emerging technology.

He maintains a working relationship with an international database of trusted clients and has track record of delivering multiple, often concurrent projects; on or before deadline, all while exceeding creative objectives and expectations. His awards in the field of animation are numerous and he recently helped produce the Oscar-nominated animated feature Anomalisa. Smith is also a visiting professor at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects and has helped produced the VFX for some of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters over the last decade.
