Cut&Paste Announces LA Event

On Saturday, May 19th in Los Angeles, Cut&Paste will hold a special edition of its popular live design battles.

Announcement from Cut&Paste:

On Saturday, May 19th in Los Angeles, Cut&Paste will hold a special edition of its popular live design battles. Good things come in pairs and, in the spirit of experimentation and live creativity, the LA event will challenge teams of 2D/3D designers to assemble a pitch concept for a new video project. This exciting new team format went out for its first run in London -- check it out in the video below:

Onstage, Cut&Paste teams will work through a three-round tag-team obstacle course, testing their digital and physical creativity to develop illustrated storyboards and 3D models. In the Final Round, they present a polished styleframe to our audience and jury. Surprise constraints suggested by our audience via Twitter and Facebook are fair game along the way to keep teams on their toes.

In response to the experiment in London, juror Mike Alderson of ManvsMachine commented that "The best thing to see was the enthusiasm for design from competitors and audience alike."

Inspired by judges like Mike Alderson and Charlie Sells of Jelly during the last show, Cut&Paste Los Angeles is honored to host a jury of award-winning professionals including Mick Ebeling of The Ebeling Group. The rest of the jury and our competition teams will be announced next week.

When: Saturday, May 19, Doors open at 7:00pm Venue: LOT 613 Address: 613 Imperial Street. Los Angeles, CA Tickets: $15/advance, $20/door, $13.50/book of 4 Age Limit: 21+ to attend

This event will be intimate and geared toward trying new ideas and involving our audience. With Twitter and Facebook, the audience will vote to narrow the field, leaving two teams from which our esteemed jury will choose one winning team. That winner will advance to the Global Championship in New York City in October 2012 to compete with 11 other teams from around the world.
