Countryside Animafest Cyprus 2023 Shares Poster by Michael Dudok de Wit

The Oscar-winning animator drew inspiration from the village of Salamiou’s landscape, creating ‘Views of World’ for the 22nd edition of the festival returning August 9-12.

The 22nd edition of Countryside Animafest Cyprus 2023 has shared this year’s poster, “Views of the World,” designed by Academy Award-winning animator Michael Dudok de Wit (The Red Turtle, The Monk and the Fish, Father and Daughter). The festival returns to the beautiful village of Salamiou August 9-12.

About the poster, Michael Dudok de Wit shared, “I was watching the lovely short 2021 documentary about the festival, and when I briefly saw a landscape near Salamiou with trees resembling olive trees, my imagination came up with this timeless, romantic image of a young woman, sitting calmly in nature with her attention towards the distance, towards the light.”

Animafest Cyprus is one of the longest-running film festivals in Cyprus. It is credited with promoting appreciation of animation in Cyprus and reputed for its quality programming, diverse audience, and active presence in the cultural scene throughout the year.

The festival features international and national competition film programs, parallel screenings, tributes, exhibitions, and masterclasses by international guests. In addition, it hosts a selection of the world’s latest productions, focusing on independent, non-commercial films.

This year’s official selections will be announced on July 3.
