Coolabi Secures New 'Poppy Cat' Deals

Leading children’s and family entertainment producer and rights management company Coolabi is further expanding the reach of its pre-school brand "Poppy Cat," securing new deals in digital and publishing.

London, UK -- Leading children’s and family entertainment producer and rights management company Coolabi is further expanding the reach of its pre-school brand Poppy Cat, securing new deals in digital and publishing.

UK animators Studio Liddell will work with Coolabi to produce the first Poppy Cat app for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets, which will be available in English-speaking territories from August 2012. Studio Liddell has a renowned track record in producing quality animation and digital content.

Coolabi is also expanding its agreement with publishing partner Redan to include Poppy Cat in the first ever Fun to Learn Friends Annual which will be available in the UK and Eire from August next year. Poppy Cat currently features in Redan’s top-selling Fun to Learn Friends magazine every fortnight.

Natasha Dyson, Head of Licensing at Coolabi says: “Poppy Cat’s appeal continues to grow in the UK and internationally and we are excited to be able to develop the range of products we can offer to the show’s audience. We are especially thrilled to be taking Poppy Cat further into the digital space with the new app launching this summer.”

The first wave of Poppy Cat products hits the shelves in the UK this summer including toys from Golden Bear and Jumbo Games, TV tie-in books from Macmillan, and apparel from Aykroyds and TDP.

In May, Poppy Cat’s UK audience reach expanded when terrestrial channels ITV1 and CITV began airing the 52 x 11 minute animated series, which is already a hit show on commissioning broadcaster Nick Jr UK since launching in May 2011.

Internationally, with sales to almost 100 territories, Poppy Cat has become a top rating show on Sprout in the US, where it will also feature in the new NBC Kids block from July. In addition, Poppy Cat started her French adventures in June, broadcast in the key Zouzous slot on France5.

Poppy Cat brings to life the wonderful world of the preschool children’s character created by Lara Jones in the book series that has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. The series is co-produced by Coolabi’s television production arm Coolabi Productions and the Emmy shortlisted and BAFTA award-winning King Rollo Films.
