Animated comedy with ‘BoJack Horseman’ pedigree is set to produce 10 episodes on Netflix.
Stand-up comedian and American Housewife Ali Wong has joined the voice cast of Tuca & Bertie, the upcoming animated Netflix comedy created by BoJack Horseman’s Lisa Hanawalt and starring comic Tiffany Haddish, Variety reports.
Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of the animated comedy Tuca & Bertie, about a pair of 30-something bird women who live in the same building. Haddish will voice Tuca, a laid-back toucan, and Wong will play Bertie, an anxious songbird.
Haddish will serve as executive producer alongside Haddish.
The project has the pedigree of BoJack Horseman, Netflix’s hit adult animated comedy, on which Hanawalt is production designer and producer. She will be executive producer on Tuca & Bertie, along with BoJack creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg and Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen. Producing is Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company, which also produces BoJack, with animation by Shadowmachine.
