Cogswell College’s Project X Debuting New Short, ‘Trouble Brewing,’ Jan. 28

Student-run CG-animated short film produced entirely by Cogswell College students follows on the heels of award winning projects ‘Worlds Apart’ and ‘The Offering.’

SAN JOSE, CA -- Project X Productions will debut its latest student-run animated short film, Trouble Brewing, at Cogswell College in San Jose, CA, Saturday, January 28.

Produced entirely by Cogswell College students, the animation tells the story of a chance encounter between a troll and a rambunctious baby goat.

Project X is a college course that provides students with a simulated animation studio environment. Students collaborate on award-winning work like Worlds Apart and The Offering, winners of more than two dozen film festival awards between them, including Best Animated Short at the California International Animation Festival and the Rising Star Award at the Canada International Film Festival.

The course is held in a dedicated lab giving students extensive access to state-of-the-art equipment and software, including Windows-based workstations, servers and render farm equipped with software like Maya, Z-Brush, Mudbox, Mari, Houdini, Nuke, Photoshop, Vray, Renderman and After Effects in addition to a variety of plugins and project management tools. Projext X also uses a custom render manager, Hydra, developed as a project by engineering and computer science students specifically for the school's network.

The Trouble Brewing premiere will also feature a panel discussion where Project X alumni discuss their work on the film and their careers after Cogswell.
