CINANIMA, now celebrating its 43rd anniversary, represents one of the few opportunities for many professionals to showcase their work to the public; the short film grand prize winner is automatically placed on the nomination shortlist for the animated short film Oscar, as the festival is one of the events officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
This event has contributed to creating new audiences for this art form, encouraging the general public to recognize the value of animation cinema, pushing aside the prejudice that animation is only for children and confirming animation as an outstanding artistic and multidisciplinary communication platform.
CINANIMA has extended the original deadline for film submission to July 17, 2019. Works concluded after January 1, 2018 that have not been presented for selection in previous editions of the festival are eligible.
